'' The ultimate role for me as an artist is to question the culture around me: the good and bad, the true and false, the known and the unknown. I'm interested in the 'and': creating the room in-between for questioning ''- Aidy Brooks
DELETE THE ELITE
A series of studies exploring the history and transition of power in the UK, from the 1600's to present day
GREAT BRITISH REVOLUTIONS
Pen on Paper - 160cm x 80cm
This piece is born from over two years study of the English civil war to the present day, focussing on the origins and transfer of England's internal power structures. Created in a single, continuous session, the drawing is a mental map of over 2 years research, created from memory, over a period of 12 hours.
''Drawing to me is like an addiction or obsessive compulsive disorder. It goes everywhere with me. So, I use it to record everything around me: conversations, vibrations, touch and movement, all translated into visual form. '' - Aidy Brooks
