Old surfboards upcycled into new works of art
Each board tells a story of positive change. These stories spread as we pass them on to others, with the potential to inspire action and change the world, person by person.
8-12 million metric of tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year. In the UK less than 6% of recycled plastic is in a closed loop system.

‘Wabi Sabi’ - beauty in the imperfection
Inspired by the ancient japanese tradition of embracing the old: repairing, enhancing and providing a new lease of life to an object.
Turn heads
In an ever growing world of throw-away digital media, there’s nothing more striking than a physical piece of art. Lead the way, spark a conversation and inspire others to create positive change.
Show the world
We film the creative process, so you can share the story with your friends, family, followers, customers and clients.
This Surfboard design was created for Asado, Bristol.
Want to create something together?
8-12 million metric of tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year. In the UK less than 6% of recycled plastic is in a closed loop system. The rest goes to landfill.
This project aims to help create that conversation, so together we can find creative solutions.
Designs that feature the ocean remind and reconnect us with the life blood of our planet. They bring it back into conversation and inspire people to consider its importance.
Hang them in your home
Spark conversations with family and friends. Together we can raise awareness of plastic pollution and help to inspire action to save our seas.
Ethical art
Every project saves an old board from landfill. We will always attempt to work within your budget, to make them accessible to all.
Creating change
One board at a time. We source the old boards, spruce them up and ship them directly to you.
Let’s create something together
It all began with Kitesurfing
Around 1999 Kiteboarding entered Aidy’s life and as a result, came a new appreciation for the seas that surround us.
Kombro was founded in 2009 in an attempt to challenge the huge wastage and environmental impact of the dominant clothing industry model.
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, just after the oil industry.
The mission was to offer creative products for lovers of the sea and the ethically minded,
Until 2021 Kombro offered ‘print-to-order’ ethical garments (zero waste), engraved wooden phone cases (less plastic), hand painted wooden watches and framed artworks.
Things that don’t cost the Earth
Kombro was founded on sustainability and positive change. No waste, less plastic and only the finest, ethical materials.
Kombro community
Spreading the word that consumer products don’t need to consume the planet. Meeting like minded people and forming bonds with those who appreciate our planet.
Keeping the dream alive, any way we can.
My purpose is to create positive change within communities both locally and globally. Whether this is campaigning for cleaner rivers, gorrila planting native, bee friendly wildflowers or informative murals to inform the public (below). Time is ticking. I am a big believer in the empowerment of people. Together we can make our own little difference in this world, for the benefit of all.
